The most significant threat to fair elections in America

[this article originally appeared on The Hill , on November 4, 2024) Most Americans don’t realize how razor thin the margins are when it comes to who wins or loses a national election. Most polls have a margin of error of 4 percent; in 2020, every single swing state had a margin of victory of less than 2 percent, with several of the margins coming in at less than half of a percent. With the danger of partisanship tilting the outcome of such slim margins, can Americans be sure their votes will be counted? When my company was hired in 2020 by former President Donald Trump’s campaign to analyze the presidential election for voter fraud, we found nothing that would change the election results. But today, we face a bigger threat than voter fraud: The influence of partisanship on our election processes. It is the most significant threat to our democracy. Some of those in charge of our elections are more than just partisan, but openly willing to conduct elections in a manner that favors thei

The Man who Disproved Trump’s Election Fraud Claims Looks at the Problems with New York’s Voter Data

[This article originally appeared on Informed Consent , on March 20, 2024] Barrington, RI (Special to Informed Comment) – If the oldest human alive is 116, how did 368 118-year-olds vote in New York in 2020? Election districts that do a terrible job identifying their voters expose their state to problems far beyond a few votes by individuals with impossible ages. Consider that in 2020 New York voters with no personally identifiable information (PII – Social Security or driver’s license numbers) in the voter database cast nearly as many ballots as Joe Biden’s margin of victory over Donald Trump—more than 1.8 million votes. Before anyone claims this is the smoking gun that proves massive voter fraud, let me assure you that no one has brought forth legally admissible proof of voter fraud sufficient to change any state election result in 2020. And I should know. I was hired by the Trump campaign to look for voter fraud in the days after that election. These impossibly old voters and voter

COMMENTARY: Yes, Trump lost in Nevada

Ken Block — Special to the Review-Journal [This article originally appears in the Las Vegas Review-Journal , on 3/16/2024] What happened to the claim that more than 16,000 duplicate votes were cast in Nevada during the 2020 presidential election? I disproved it. I am the man who was hired right after the election by former President Donald Trump’s campaign to look for voter fraud. The campaign’s lawyers (the careful ones) relied upon me and my team to perform due diligence on fraud claims made by others. I knew right away that the data was bad and that only a few of the 16,000 pairs of votes would be real duplicates. During our investigation I discovered two problems with the analysis behind the Nevada claim: 1) Whoever did the analysis did not differentiate between duplicate registrations and duplicate votes, and, 2) the analysis did not consider that two people can share the same name and birthdate, an issue that makes 90 percent of this sort of matching wrong. I found only two coup

Forget the false vote fraud claims. Here's the real reason Trump lost Wisconsin

Providing a record of voter registration birth date could strengthen Wisconsin's already strong system. Ken Block Special to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel [where this article originally appears on 3/11/2024] Did more than 740,000 Wisconsin voters cast  fraudulent ballots in 2020 ? This was the most  outlandish claim the Trump campaign  asked me to evaluate as part of my contract to look for voter fraud  immediately after the election. It also had the simplest explanation for why it was wrong. I determined every single fraud claim that the campaign asked me to  review to b e  false . Much time, effort, and money has been spent trying to find proof for the claim that some kind of fraud caused President Trump’s 2020 election loss in Wisconsin. While there are many remarkable elements to the  voter fraud narrative , it amazes me that the most straightforward explanations for Trump’s loss are overlooked. And let’s be clear: more than three years post-election, there is  no evidence that

Trump hired me to find election fraud in Arizona. Here's what I found instead

Opinion: Donald Trump and Kari Lake claim election fraud in Arizona, but the numbers tell a vastly different story. [This piece originally appeared in  azcentral.com .] The baseless cries of  voter fraud  by failed gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake weren’t just a redundant mimicry of former President Donald Trump’s claims that voter fraud cost him the 2020 election in Arizona. They are aspersions that are easily proven as false. It amazes me that the most straightforward explanations for Trump’s loss are overlooked. After recounts, audits and even the Cyber Ninjas, no one has brought forward a credible and provable claim of massive voter fraud in Arizona. And let’s be clear: There is no evidence that Arizona election officials certified the wrong winner in  2020  or  2022 , even with the races being as close as they were. Trump lost by less than 11,000 votes. I should know. I’m the man the  Trump campaign hired  to find those fraudulent votes. I only found a handful of fraudulent votes

Opinion: Trump hired me to prove fraud in 2020 Georgia election but I saw no evidence

When former President Donald Trump infamously asked Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” him 11,789 votes in 2020, the close race made it seem plausible that a handful of fraudulent votes could have tipped the balance. Much time, effort and money has been spent trying to find proof for the claim that some kind of fraud caused Trump’s loss in Georgia in the 2020 election. While there are many remarkable elements to the voter fraud narrative, it amazes me that the most straightforward explanations for Trump’s loss are overlooked. And let’s be clear: more than three years post-election, there is no evidence that Georgia election officials certified the wrong winner in 2020. Trump paid me to find voter fraud. Then he lied after I found 2020 election wasn't stolen.

The cries that the 2020 election was lost or stolen due to voter fraud continue with no sign of stopping. But if voter fraud had impacted the 2020 election, it would already have been proven.  [ Read Ken Block's opinion piece in USA Today ]
